The immediate priority has been put on providing a kindergarten and primary (up to grade 3) so that the smaller children in the community can have a start in school, rather than sit at home until they are much older than school going age before they go to school, or end up never going to school at all.

The community is keen on the vision and supports it, but has almost no financial resources to support it. What they are able to provide is in kind support, e.g. clearing land for the school. The Riches of Glory Ministry and Philanthropists and well-wishers have donated small amounts of money (accounts attached) which have made it possible to construct a small two classroom unit and start one kindergarten and one grade one class since September 2012. Getting teachers has proved difficult and apart from volunteer work done by one of the Pastors, there is only one paid full time teacher who was recently recruited. He is being paid out of the money donated by well-wishers – since the parents though clearly appreciating the effort are unable to contribute enough for the payment of a teacher. Their books and other teaching materials are similarly donated. A Board of Directors of the School with representation from the community, from the Church and from well-wishers in Accra was also set up in 2012 to oversee and guide the work.

Much remains to be done, and to keep this vision alive remains precarious. The church in Adenta itself has many families with financial difficulties; and although better off than the community in Apese, their ability to financially support the project is limited in relation to the needs.

Further work to develop the community and especially to get the children of the community educated remains an urgent need, for which support from interested individuals and organizations would be much appreciated.
